AN ORDINANCE AMENDING TITLE 3, CHAPTER 33, SECTION 33.02 OF THE LOMBARD VILLAGE CODE IN REGARD TO OFFICE AND RANKS

WITHIN THE FIRE DEPARTMENT

BE IT ORDAINED by the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Lombard, DuPage County, Illinois, as follows:

SECTION 1:                     That Title 3, Chapter 33, Section 33.02 of the Lombard Village Code is amended to read in its entirety as follows:

"§33.02                      OFFICES AND RANKS CREATED/NUMBER/SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

(A) The various offices and ranks listed below are hereby created:

a) Deputy Chief

b) Battalion Chief

c) Lieutenant

d) Firefighter

(B) The number authorized to serve in each rank shall be as determined annually in the Budget Ordinance adopted by the Village.

(C) Battalion Chiefs shall:

Have no less than five (5) years of service in the rank of Lieutenant;

Be an Illinois licensed Emergency Medical Technician; and

Have either:

a) An Associate Degree in Fire Science and a Fire Officer I Certification from the Office of the State Fire Marshal, or

b) An Associate Degree in any major and a Fire Officer II Certification from the Office of the State Fire Marshal, or

SECTION 2:                     That this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and approval as provided by law.
