Johnson: due to a recent accident, resident requested a stop sign at Grove and |
Elizabeth. Reviewed traffic report with committee. |
Schwarz: are accidents during the day or night? Cuny: this one was during the middle |
of the night. Schwarz: are they hit and run? Cuny: yes. Johnson: an average of 2 |
accidents per year. Seems likely that the vehicles are exceeding the speed limit and/or |
driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Bedard: only way I see of preventing |
anything would be a guard rail. Stop sign wouldn't help. Kuehl: what about a line down |
the middle?? Johnson: would have to be a double yellow. |
It was moved by Schwarz, seconded by Gron, that this matter be recommended |
to the Board of Trustees for denial. The motion carried by the following vote: |

Residential Traffic Speed and Enforcement |
Dane Cuny provided the committee with a Year-to-Date Traffic History graph. |
Bedard: please keep this in color as it makes reading much easier. |
Schwarz: how does the warning ticket situation work? Cuny: minor traffic violation will |
cause the stop, if nothing further is found the officer will issue a warning. More or less |
checking on the people to see if there are any more serious violations occurring. |
Soderstrom: would like to have these copies distributed to the board. They are always |
interested in what we are doing. Highlight in writing some of the points that we talked |
about. Specify that it is sheer enforcement that is causing the increase in all of the |
tickets and citations. Advised Dane Cuny to review the minutes to highlight these |
points. |

Taken out of order due to the presence of representative from the company in |
attendance at the meeting. |
Ron DeSenna: bulk of business has been in Oak Brook, Elmhurst and Oakbrook |
Terrace. Small company working hard for business. Have a very good record. |
Gron: why are there several different company names? DeSenna: first name was |
confused with another company. Gron: do you deal with Bolingbrook? DeSenna: yes. |
Bedard: how many cabs do you have? DeSenna: 19. Bedard: do you do anything |
with safety checks? DeSenna: all of our cabs are licensed in Oak Brook. Gron: do you |
dispatch out of OakBrook? DeSenna: Oakbrook Terrace. Soderstrom: Familiar with |
the subsidy? DeSenna: yes. |
It was moved by Bedard, seconded by Kuehl, that this matter be recommended |
