Village of Lombard Legistar System

Chairperson Fitzpatrick noted that she was asked by President Mueller to attend

DuPage Senior Citizens Council as the Village of Lombard does some funding for Meals

on Wheels. Chairperson Fitzpatrick made contact with the acting director and asked

Gerri Kuehl and/or Pam Bedard to attend the meetings if they were available. She

hoped to have more information by the next meeting.

Website update - Joelyn Kott indicated that the "Senior" section is now approximately 8

to 9 pages and should be available to the public the beginning of March.

Chairperson Fitzpatrick mentioned that Lisa Biegalski will be handling Character Counts!

when she is officially approved on the committee at the February 21 Board of Trustees

meeting.

Chairperson Fitzpatrick noted that she will be personally looking into another program

for kids' leadership through the University of Illinois.

Zachary Wilson questioned the Blue Star program and wanted to know why it no longer

exists. He also indicated that the Police Department has a Self Defense Class for

women and asked staff to find out how much it costs and who promotes it. He stated he

would like to see it offered more often. Joelyn Kott indicated that staff will research the

issue and provide information at the next meeting.

Regarding Dan Tani, Moon Khan asked on behalf of his son why there isn't a street

named after him. He also asked the name of the committee that would handle that.

Joelyn Kott indicated that staff would find out the information. Moon indicated that his

son will send a letter to the Community Relations committee.

D. Intergovernmental Relations

Chairperson Fitzpatrick spoke about the intergovernmental forum or fair. Zachary

Wilson thought it would be along the lines of social services and what the Village has to

offer. Andy Draus thought it was more into the other governmental bodies. Zachary

Wilson thought it would be good to know what types of services the various Village

departments already offer residents. He indicated that he was not opposed to going

with the other governing bodies but would like to start with the Village departments. It

was suggested that staff conduct an inventory of the services each department offers so

that the committee could see what already exists, what the public can expect from

Village services, as well as what is already being offered. The committee suggested

that a questionnaire be sent to each department head asking which social services their

department already offered. Moon Khan suggested not only having department heads

list the services they already offer but also schedule them to come to the following

meeting to answer questions about they submit. A discussion then ensued as to the

best way to obtain the requested information and the process for doing so.

Zachary Wilson asked what should be done about the Forum. Andy Draus suggested

that the committee stay focused and accomplish something with this first item then move

on to the next item.

Joelyn Kott summarized the staff memo about the event from Glendale Heights. The

Village of Glendale Heights will not have it again because of the timing but it was well

attended and lots of donations were received. It consisted of a lot of work in the Mayor's

Office.

Zachary Wilson suggested incorporating different people into events that you already

have going on so that you can piggyback on something that already exists such as the

Taste of Lombard. Zachary and Moon asked to receive a contact for the Taste of

Lombard. Joelyn indicated that staff would forward that information to them via e-mail.

She also noted that staff would find out the dates of the Taste.
