| Solid Waste Contract - Update |
| Jim Karls from Waste Management in attendance. Karls distributed spreadsheet to |
| committee. Passed out information about toters for recycling. Adams: thanked Karls |
| and Waste Management for all of their help with the storm debris cleanup. |
| Clean Air Counts |
| Gorman reviewed with the committee. Informed them about info on Channel 6. Paul |
| Kuehlenz attended meeting at Fermilab. Lyons: would like to see this info out on the |
| Website and in the PRIDE. |
| Recycling Education Grant - Glenbard East High School |
| Request in the amount of $350.00. |
| Mason: asked committee if they know the status of the wetland. Gorman: I assume |
| since it is on their property it is OK. Jendras: actually it says prairie, not wetland. |
| Discussion ensued. Gron: I called this gentleman and talked with him about the fact |
| that he is going to the Schaumburg Garden Club. He picked Schaumburg because they |
| are a non-profit. Suggested that he contact the Lombard Garden Club in the future to |
| see what they have to offer. |
| It was moved by Adams, seconded by Lyons, that this matter be recommended |
| to the Board of Trustees for approval. The motion carried by a voice vote |
| Recycling Education Grant - Montini Catholic High School |
| A request in the amount of $2,500.00. |
| Lyons: I think it is a good idea because you can recycle more paper if it is shredded. |
| Adams: that is not necessarily the case. Discussion ensued. Jendras: the purpose of |
| this program is to educate students on recycling. Jendras made a motion to deny the |
| request; seconded by Mason. All ayes with the exception of Lyons and Bartt who |
| abstained. Motion to rescind this vote later in the meeting made by Schukat, seconded |
| by Mason. All ayes. Mason: wants staff to request Montini supply the committee with a |
| letter from their vendor or a certificate that indicates that the shredded paper is recycled. |
| Explain to the school that they need to consider the fact that the volume of paper will |
| now be increasing and the weight of the loads will be decreasing. Also there will be |
| more frequent pickups required. Committee requested that staff put the recycling grant |
| application paperwork on the agenda for the next meeting in order for them to review. |
| It was moved by Bartt, seconded by Mason, that this matter be tabled. The |

| Recycling Education Grant - St. John's Lutheran School |
| Request in the amount of $950.00. |
| It was moved by Schukat, seconded by Mason, that this matter be recommended |
| to the Board of Trustees for approval. The motion carried by a voice vote |
| Recycling Education Grant - St. Pius X School |
| A request in the amount of $1,000.00. |
| Discussion ensued regarding playground equipment being eligible for a grant through |
| this program. |
| It was moved by Bartt, seconded by Jendras, that this matter be recommended |
| to the Board of Trustees for denial. The motion carried by a voice vote |
| Recycling Education Grant - Willowbrook High School |
| Request in the amount of $926.72. |
| It was moved by Mason, seconded by Schukat, that this matter be recommended |
| to the Board of Trustees for approval. The motion carried by a voice vote |
| Home Composter Grant Program |
| Gorman provided memo to the committee members. Gorman: could possibly revisit the |
| code to include items besides yard waste. Mason: would like to change the verbiage in |
| the code and OK the program at the same time. Gorman: monetary amount could be |
| changed if you want to. Motion was made to approve as long as the changes are made |
| to the code and definitions. |
| It was moved by Mason, seconded by Schukat, that this matter be recommended |
| to the Board of Trustees for approval. The motion carried by a voice vote |
| Fleet Services Environmental Summary |
| Gorman reviewed memo with the committee. Lyons: once again, I would like to see this |
| type of thing publicized in the paper and in the PRIDE. Further discussion ensued. |
| Crowne Plaza Hotel and Glen Prairie Restaurant, Environmental Initiative |
| Lyons reported to the committee about all of the green things incorporated into the |
| Crowne Plaza Hotel. We need to get letters out from the Village requesting the |
| restaurants and hotels start going green. Gron: we can request a session with the |
| management from the Westin. Gorman: I will contact the management company from |
| the Westin. I know they did just change out all of their lights to CFL's. I have all of their |
| old lights if anyone knows of a non-profit that could use them. |
