1. Open House for Student Government

Trustee Fitzpatrick announced that the Student Government (SG) Day will have to be

postponed until next year. The high schools need more time so we will have to send

them a letter/proposal for next fall so they get their mindset and they can send some

input. Then we can get together with them in the fall, end of September, and get actual

programming planning going . We want student committee members for six-month

terms. The Village will ask for applicants from each school to start in the fall and then

end with the open house/SG day. Don't have to be SG kids at the school to participate.

It could be anyone who wants to participate but students should be from Lombard.

Staff to author letter to counselors/principals/superintendent/head of department-social

studies department. Draft for March, finalize in April, out in May.

2. Student Committee Representative

This item was combined with the above. This year a proclamation will be done to

promote the fact that we are doing this next year. The Village Board Committee list was

distributed so they could chose the committees that would work. Six committees were

chosen to invite kids to join as a student representative: Community Relations,

Community Promotion & Tourism, Economic & Community Development, Environmental

Concerns, Public Works and Transportation & Safety Committees. A Proclamation will

be read on March 5, 2009 and next year will be promoted by Trustee Fitzpatrick.

2009 Senior Fair

Discussion regarding the 2009 Senior Fair.

Try to get a date for the upcoming Fair the first week of October, day and time open.

Are we going to have a diversity fair as part of the Taste of Lombard? Staff will try and

get the Jaycees to come to a meeting. Andy Draus will find out who is running the Taste

and invite them to come to the meeting. Maybe get cultural entertainment at the Taste,

sponsored by the Community Relations Committee. Maybe we could sponsor some

events, etc. Moon is pretty sure that he can get some entertainment for the main stage

at no charge.

Community Conversations - Staff shared a flyer that Elmhurst does and questioned as

to whether or not Lombard would want to do a similar event where people are invited to

hear what services are available to them by different agencies.

District 44 Art Fair reception will be held March 5. Since this highlights the youth in the

community, members are invited to attend.

Downtown Visioning Workshop - Zack Wilson reminded the committee of the last one

tomorrow at 7 p.m. in the Board Room.
