| O. Schafer School Signage Changes (Ordinance on Second Reading) |
| Recommendation of the Transportation & Safety Committee regarding changes to |
| signage at Schafer School. (DISTRICT #4) |
| Johnson: reviewed memo of requested changes with the committee members present. |
| All of these improvements are being advised to implement safety for the children. |
| Johnson and Wagner did speak to parents and went over the proposed changes with |
| them. Everything has been implemented and is flowing smoothly. Soderstrom: asked |
| about the 'No Parking" signage. Johnson explained. Murphy: asked about pavement |
| markings. Johnson: there are some out there now. |

| Johnson reviewed memo with committee members. Gron: they have this type of sign |
| ("B PLATE ONLY")? Johnson: we make them in house. Soderstrom: how does this |
| compare with the 4 mile situation on S. Fairfield? Johnson: this actually involved trucks |
| avoiding the railroad intersection and not being able to make the turns at Main and St. |
| Charles. Soderstrom: could this exact signage go there? Johnson: I believe so. |
| Kuehl: could someone that lives in the area with a "C" plate not drive there to get to |
| their home? Johnson: they would have to take an alternate route. Gron: is this a |
| common practice? Johnson: yes. Some of our streets are built with urban grant |
| monies and we cannot regulate truck traffic on these roads. |

| Johnson: this is a reference book to use when you are asked questions by residents. |
| Soderstrom: good news is this replaces the old book that is quite larger. Gron: how |
| long has traffic control been around? Johnson: has been since at least the 1930's. |
