Medal of Character Excellence Nomination |
Request to nominate Eric Haimann or Kevin Davis for the Medal of Character |
Excellence Award. |
Two nominations were submitted with the agenda. One was passed out at the meeting |
as it came after the agenda packets went out. It was decided to table this nomination |
and wait until the next meeting to discuss it. |
Some discussion also occurred as to whether the Committee was to choose only one |
recipient of the two or three submitted. It was decided that each nomination would be |
considered individually on its own merit unless the Committee decided otherwise. In the |
instance of the two nominations submitted by the same person, since the two young |
men work together, these would be presented together and are targeted for a November |
Board meeting. |
It was moved by Bedard, seconded by Corbino, that this matter be |
recommended to the Board of Trustees for approval to award the Medal of |
Character Excellence Award to both Eric Haimann and Kevin Davis. The motion |
carried by a voice vote |

Information Only
Items discussed included the Senior Fair wrap up. It was discussed whether or not |
speakers would be a good idea to pursue or if it would be dropped. It was very difficult |
to get people to the speakers at the Senior Fair and although they were appreciated by |
the attendees once they were there, it was thought that this need is already fulfilled by |
other groups in the Village. The day's program from the Senior Fair as well as the |
survey results were shared with the Committee. The Senior Fair was successful and |
will be continued annually. |
Also distributed with the agenda were the News Release on "Make A Difference Day" in |
which the Committee encouraged the community to get involved as well as the DuPage |
Area Local Circulator Study brochure which staff received. |
Chairperson O'Brien inquired about another award for a young man who did a good |
deed in the community regarding the safety of some neighborhood trees. A "Good |
Neighbor" Award was then discussed. He will forward staff the contact information and |
staff will arrange for a future meeting to recognize him for these efforts. |
Staff also circulated the Medal of Character Excellence brochure for approval. It will be |
duplicated and sent to the Library, Park District, Chamber office and any other groups |
and offices that will help distribute it. Sporadic notices will also be sent to the churches |
by staff from time to time. |
