| President Mueller asked staff to check on the status of Monica Brown as a member. |
| A motion was made by Steve Wilk, Sr. to approve the minutes of the April 17, 2008 |
| meeting as submitted. Motion was seconded by Ed Murphy. Passed unanimously. |
| Grant Application For 2008 Business Expo |
| Request from the Lombard Chamber of Commerce for $5,000 from Hotel/Motel funds |
| for advertising costs associated with the 2008 Business Expo. |
| A grant in the amount of $5,000 was submitted by the Lombard Chamber of Commerce |
| for costs associated with running the 2008 Expo. Marguerite Micken indicated that the |
| Expo will be held at the Westin Lombard Yorktown Center on October 23 from 10 a.m.-3 |
| p.m. and that the Chamber has received a good response already. Several restaurants, |
| Harris Bank and others are participating. Advertising will occur in various newspapers |
| including the DuPage Business Ledger. |
| The grant application and budget were reviewed by the committee. President Mueller |
| inquired as to why they were asking for more money as the grant last year was for |
| $4,000. Marguerite indicated that it would be for additional advertising. |
| Ed Murphy questioned why the extra advertising dollars could not be taken from the |
| $9,339 profit shown from last year? Marguerite indicated that the profit from last year |
| became a part of the Chamber budget and is earmarked for other items. Ed also |
| indicated that from a financial standpoint, revenue is coming in less that prior years and |
| he did not think the Village was in a position to allocate additional dollars for this event. |
| Additional discussion regarding advertising was held and President Mueller pointed out |
| that the Village helps out Lombard Town Center and the Chamber of Commerce with |
| grants and other in kind services. He stressed that the Chamber is an important part of |
| the community. |
| A motion was made by Steve Wilk, Sr., seconded by Ed Murphy to award a grant in the |
| amount of $4,000 to the Chamber for expenses related to the 2008 Expo. Motion |
| carried unanimously. A recommendation will be presented to the Board of Trustees at |
| its October 2, 2008 meeting. |
| It was moved by Wilk, Sr., seconded by Murphy, that this matter be approved. |
| The motion carried by a voice vote |
| President Mueller indicated that Beth Gelman contacted him and staff about a grant for |
| the Lombard Town Centre's "Spooktacular Saturday" in downtown. He indicated that |
| the Village did not support this event in the past and there was no information and not |
| enough time to get it on the agenda for the meeting. |
| DuPage Arts Coalition grant application-the committee would be looking at this for the |
| next meeting on a sculpture arts day in Lilacia Park for next spring. |
| President Mueller shared with the committee the lilac sale questionnaire results as well |
| as a letter from the Maple Street Chapel group thanking the Village for the previous |
| grant award. |
| Skip Stritmatter also updated the Village on the economic impact of the hotel industry. |
| Hotels for 2008 are up, restaurants are down and hotels are forecasted to be flat in |
| 2009. She also indicated that sales tax was down and that a lot of communities are |
| struggling to fill the gap created by the downfall. She also reported on a the "Fireball |
| Rally" that would be held in Westmont, 60 cars, 165 people. |
| The meeting was adjourned at 3:29 p.m. with a motion by Steve Wilk, Sr., seconded by |
| Ed Murphy. Motion carried unanimously. |
