| The minutes of the August 15, 2006 committee meeting were submitted for approval. |
| Ed Murphy made a motion to approve as submitted. Motion was seconded by Jill |
| Payne. Motion carried unanimously to approve the minutes as submitted. |
| President Mueller informed the committee that the Village received a check back from |
| the Lombard Chamber of Commerce for $700. This was money from their grant that |
| was not spent and they returned it to the Village. |
| Hotel/Motel Tax Fund Budget For 2007-2008 |
| Discussion of 2007-2008 Hotel/Motel budget. |
| A revised budget report was distributed to the committee by Finance Director Len Flood. |
| An overview of the hotel/motel fund budget was presented by Flood. Two items of |
| expenditures that were highlighted included $40,000 allocated for new entry way signs |
| and an increase of $5,000 for entertainment for Cruise Nights, making the total budget |
| for this line item $20,000. Other highlights of the budget were reviewed and questions |
| were taken from the committee. |
| Ed Murphy questioned the expenditure for a sixth block party wagon. This was |
| budgeted for next year. Mike Fugiel and Lesli Groth both explained that the prior year |
| had multiple double bookings and that the party wagons were not cleaned, sometimes |
| had hot grills and other items that were not in tact for the second booking. Murphy |
| questioned whether or not we are doing ourselves a disservice by getting another one |
| and perhaps we should be happy with the number that we have. |
| Mike Fugiel responded with that if another wagon was included in the mix, the Park |
| District could provide a better service to residents. Ed Murphy also questioned the |
| $6,000 item for the free lilac bush program. President Mueller said that it is probably |
| about the best expenditure of these funds. It was also discussed about possibly trying |
| to account for people who come more than once and staff recommended that it would |
| be extremely difficult to keep track of it. |
| A vote was taken to recommend the budget as is to the Board of Trustees. A motion |
| was made by Steve Wilk, Sr., seconded by Ed Murphy. The motion carried |
| unanimously. For the record, Pat Poskocil, Mike Fugiel and Lesli Groth all thanked the |
| Village for its support. |
| It was moved by Wilk, Sr., seconded by Murphy, that this matter be recommend |
| to the Board of Trustees for Approval. The motion carried by a voice vote |
| Grant Application From the Lombard Park District For 2007 Lilac Time Festival |
| Requesting $11,920.55 from Hotel/Motel funds for costs associated with advertising for |
| 2007 Lilac Time. |
| The Lombard Park District submitted a grant application for a grant to be awarded for |
| the 2007 Lilac Time in Lombard advertising and promotion. The grant request was |
| $11,920.55. Mike Fugiel, Executive Director for the Lombard Park District and Lesli |
| Groth, Community Service Manager, were available for questions. |
| Lesli advised the committee that the advertising grant from the state for this project was |
| not approved; therefore, the advertising would be adjusted to fit the budget. A letter |
| regarding this matter was submitted to the committee after the grant application was |
| received. Both are attached to these minutes. |
| Ed Murphy questioned whether or not the Park District tracks its visitors and if the |
| advertisements were affective. Lesli answered that they do have some tracking |
| methods in place and this helps them place their advertisements in specific areas. |
| President Mueller also added that last year he personally spoke with two different |
| families who were from out of state, one of them staying locally. |
| A motion was made by Ed Murphy, seconded by Steve Wilk, Sr. to approve a grant in |
| an amount not to exceed $12,000 for the Lombard Park District's Lilac Time advertising. |
| The motion carried unanimously. |
| It was moved by Murphy, seconded by Wilk, Sr., that this matter be recommend |
| to the Board of Trustees for Approval. The motion carried by a voice vote |
| Skip Strittmatter commented that DuPage has been seeing better numbers in |
| occupancy rates in hotels and the numbers for the future are very bright. She also |
| shared some materials with the group from the Bureau. |
| The meeting was adjourned at 4 p.m. with a motion by Ed Murphy, seconded by Jill |
| Payne. Motion carried unanimously. |
